To kick off our Christmas weekend, we drove to Les Diablerets, a small french village towards the South-west of Switzerland. This is the first time I had been in this direction, and the drive was absolutely gorgeous. This small village didn't appear on any of the multiple "must-see" lists of Switzerland that I have read, but it absolutely should.

Seeing the village all lit up just as it was getting dark was so incredible. If the mountains in the background weren't enough, the outdoor skating rink and christmas lights on almost every house made the view one to remember.

We got into the village a little early, so we stopped for a drink at a local bar. Once we waited as long as we could, we were so excited to get going that we were still there a bit early. We got all geared up (in about 7 layers of clothes) and waited to get our sleds. We made reservations with Paradventure and they were great.

There are a few companies that offer the same thing, with the option to just do sledding or to include fondue at the top. We opted for the fondue, thinking it would add to the "Swiss" feeling activity. This was our first time trying the Swiss meal, and it was so good.

When you start at the bottom and get your sled, you then take a chairlift to the top of the mountain where you settle in for the fondue. We were so excited going up the chairlift we almost didn't want to stop for fondue and wanted to head straight for the hill.

The fondue was so good, and way more filling than I expected. After we were full of cheese and bread, we headed for the hill. Unfortunately, we have no pictures because it was so dark. We also recorded it, but you can only see darkness and hear us laughing the whole way.

The track was 7kms long, and had no lights. You had to use a headlamp and could only see a few meters ahead of you, and it was so fun!! It was definitely a highlight of everything so far. Once we figured out how to steer, we were cruising down the mountain. The view of the village in the distance was a highlight for me.

We both said we would have loved to do it again during the day to see the rest of the views, and would definitely come back again.

It was a perfect way to start our Christmas Vacation.
