This past Wednesday we had the day off so we went on a road trip to scratch something off my "Swiss Bucket List".

Awhile back, even before we had plans to come to Switzerland, I watched a video online of a toboggan run in the mountains that looked so fun. After I got here, I was browsing Pinterest (as I do), and found the video again. With a quick search, I found out it was only a 3.5 hour drive away! I knew we had to do it. The drive there was beautiful with twisty turns all through gorgeous mountains.

The video made it look like you got on a toboggan (with wheels) and followed a track through the mountains. We had pictured taking a gondola to the top of the mountain, grabbing the sled, and following the track all the way to the bottom. This wasn't quite what it was.

We did in fact take a gondola to the top where the track was located. The views were gorgeous, but the entire track was at the top and winded back and forth, so we were a bit disappointed with that. Even still, the views from the top were beautiful and we had fun seeing how fast we could go on the track, the boys had a lot more fun that me at this part. I will post the video of one of our runs on my video page!

After testing out the track (3 times) we took a small hike to Oeschinen Lake. It was less of a hike, and more of a leisurely walk (which we appreciated). The nice part is that anyone could make this walk, and the stunning lake is so rewarding. Although I wouldn't recommend driving 3+ hours to only do the toboggan ride, the lake really completed the day.

We walked around the shores of the lake, took some pictures and then rented a row boat to take out on the water. It was such a nice sunny day, and the water was so blue.

On our way out, we obviously needed to stop for a snack. We got some ice cream and took in the rest of the views before heading back down the gondola.

We finished the day by stopping for supper in Bern. After only being there for a few short hours, it already became one of my favourite cities in the world. I left my camera in the car, so I will have to post pictures about it when we go back, which we most definitely will.
