Chillon Castle

Chillon Castle is in Montreux, Switzerland. Montreux is a town on Lake Geneva that we drove through on our Christmas road trip.

We did not spend much time here, but did stop in at the Christmas market for a walk-through and some gingerbread. It was the last market we got to as the majority of them close on Christmas eve.

Our plan was to visit the market and come back to tour the castle. Unfortunately, we arrived just after the last tour started so we could only see the outside. We would have come back the next day, but it was closed again for Christmas.

This castle was so cool because it was built on the water, with a bridge to get inside. It wasn't far from the shore which made it such a nice view as the lake and mountains provided a perfect backdrop.

As nice as it would have been to see the inside, being stuck outside wasn't so bad. It was a perfect photo opportunity. I'm sure you can guess who was more excited for this. (Not Cam).

The water so clear it was like a big glass of water. The sun setting over the mountains made me want to freeze time. To take endless amounts of pictures, obviously..

Pictures of this castle always popped up when I was looking at Geneva, and I totally understand why. The rock pathway out on the water was every instagramer's dream.

I mean, come on?! Just look at this place.

Christmas Eve pictures are a little different this year, but we still had our matching flannel pjs. I wish Geneva was closer, even if it was for this dock alone.
